Truth or Consequences, N.M.— C. Earl
Greer, candidate for Congress in New
Mexico’s second district, dominated
a vote by attendees at a forum sponsored
by the Otero County Republican Party.
Greer, a T or C real estate broker
and businessman, topped his closest
opponent by a more than two-to-one margin
and received 43 percent of the total
vote. The event was conducted Tuesday,
March 4th at the Willie Estrada Community
Center in Alamogordo.
The format called for a series of 10
questions to be asked of the Republican
candidates running in the second district.
Following the questions and candidate
responses, attendees cast ballots for
their favorite candidates. Of the 53
votes cast Greer received 23 followed
by Aubrey Dunn with 8, Terry Marquardt
7, Ed Tinsley 7, Monty Newman 4, Greg
Sowards 3 and one “no vote.“
Greer said he was very pleased with
the results in that the forum was held
“in the backyard“ of three of his opponents.
“We are ecstatic with this result where
we see what happens when real people
get a real vote. I think voters are
tired of the secret polling and mudslinging
going on in this race. I have pledged
to remain above that fray and we appreciate
this support in Otero County and across
this diverse district,“ Greer said.
Greer is a fifth generation New Mexican
with a background in ranching and is
the only candidate fluent in Spanish
with Hispanic roots.
