Greer
Places Second at Pre-Primary Convention(March 15, 2008)
Albuquerque, N.M.— C. Earl Greer, candidate
for Congress in New Mexico’s second
district, took second place at the Republican
party’s pre-primary nominating convention.
Greer, a T or C real estate broker
and businessman, came in closely behind
Aubrey Dunn. Dunn had 29.4% of the votes,
while Greer acquired 24.4% of the vote.
Of the 135 delegate votes cast, both
Greer and Tinsley received 33 votes
each. Greer will be appearing second
on the ballot, while Tinsley will appear
third. The order was determined by a
drawing conducted by the Election Judges.
Monty Newman did not make the ballot,
after gathering only 25 delegate votes,
and Terry Marquardt and Greg Sowards
will not be appearing on the ballot
with only two delegate votes each. Aubrey
Dunn will appear first on the ballot
after garnering 40 delegate votes.
“I am extremely pleased with the outcome
of this convention,“ said Greer from
his hotel suite in Albuquerque. “The
voters of this district believe in my
ability to keep New Mexico’s values
and interests close to heart while serving
in Washington.“
“He is the people’s candidate,“ said
Timera Drake, Greer’s Communications
Director. “He doesn’t consider this
a hobby; he considers it a sacred trust
between him and the people of the second
district. He isn’t financing his campaign
with hundreds of thousands of dollars
of his own money to ’see’ if he can
win. All of his money is from true supporters
who believe in his abilities to serve
New Mexico faithfully.“
Greer is a fifth-generation New Mexican
with a background in ranching and is
the only candidate fluent in Spanish
with Hispanic roots.
